Community empowerment is the focus.

Our Story

This Company was launched to continue the unique work that the Owner/CEO, Mona Walrond began during employment in the public school system (Educator – Teacher, Specialized Counsellor at elementary school, Vice- Principal), and extensive experiences in various communities (as Community Leader/Change Agent…Public Health Nurse, Education Consultant in Public Health, Faculty Advisor/Clinical Instructor at Ryerson University).

The work engaged both individuals and communities so that they experienced successes as their voices are heard.  Children and youth moved forward positively because their ideas are respected. As a result, they have felt energized to forge ahead. Parents and community leaders embraced the freedom to share ideas and opinions – knowing that they will be heard. Community engagement continues to be a focal point and continues to play a prominent role in the daily practices of Mona’s Marketing & Consulting.

The Owner/CEO, Mona Walrond, believes that one’s cultural heritage is very important and needs to be honoured in every program. To this end, she consistently seeks and participates in opportunities in which she can promote Culturally Responsive Relevant Pedagogy.

Her work has earned her numerous Awards and recognition: Trailblazer Award from the City of Brampton (2022 and 2023); The Black History Recognition Award 2017 (Peel United Cultural Partners – awarded to an individual or organization that has demonstrated significant positive contributions to the community and to African and Caribbean communities); Lifetime Achievement Award – Change Agent (AfroGlobal Television Network – 2016); Award of Distinction (Balmoral Drive Senior Public School – 2003); Award of Excellence for outstanding contributions to public education (Peel District School Board – 2003); and she was Honoured at the Ontario Legislature (2002) for anti-violence work in the community. Her name and contributions have been recorded in the Legislative Hansard.

Mona is a lifelong learner. She has learned and practised Forex (currency) Trading through an Online Academy which gave her opportunities to earn while she learned. She invites others to become empowered in Financial Literacy by becoming engaged with such an opportunity. Mona also educates and invites others to learn about the benefits of Membership in LegalShield (PPLSI) so that they can become proactive in seeking appropriate Legal Consultation/Advice as required.

Mona is one of 3 Directors of a Non-profit Organization (Black Youth Empowerment Advocates of Peel) that focuses on accessing Leadership opportunities for Youth who have felt discouraged and marginalized. The organization has worked closely with the City of Brampton and was incorporated in 2021 and has successfully invited nine (9) Youth to assume Leadership roles which have included: Panelists, Presenters to Open various Events in the City, and Committee members (of Peel Police/Black Youth Steering Committee).
